Privacy Policy
TubeLingo is designed to keep the product simple: subtitle rendering in the extension, account data in the backend, and no unnecessary collection outside the learning workflow.
What we collect
When you sign in, we store basic Google account information such as email, name, avatar, and Google ID so the website and extension can identify the same user.
When you save vocabulary, we store the word, translation, source language, target language, source video metadata, and timestamps required to power your study history.
When the Chrome extension is enabled on YouTube, we may collect YouTube video visit records such as the video page URL, video ID, event time, extension install ID, language setting, extension version, and signed-in account email when available.
We may use privacy-conscious product analytics, such as PostHog, to understand feature usage and improve TubeLingo. Analytics events avoid subtitle text, chat content, saved word text, and full video titles.
How data is used
Saved words, subscription status, and language preference are used to synchronize your learning state between the Chrome extension and the website.
YouTube video visit records are used to support learning context features, including letting you click a saved vocabulary item and return to the video where the word appeared, and to understand extension usage so we can maintain and improve the product.
Payment details are handled through PayPal. TubeLingo stores billing references and plan status, not full card information.
Your controls
You can change your preferred language at any time, remove saved vocabulary, or request deletion of your account data, including saved vocabulary and associated YouTube video visit records.
If you uninstall the extension without logging in, local browser preferences remain only in Chrome storage on your device.
